I put some poly bushings in my control arms 18months ago, but I don't see how those (which are just supposed to move up and down) could be causing a squeak while steering. What other parts involved with steering could be causing the squeak? It's really hard to pinpoint, but it seems to be coming from the passenger wheel area. Tomorrow ill check my fluid levels again, and tighten the belt. Now the belt squeaks, and the steering wheel will refuse to turn at times. I ordered a new tie rod online and installed it yesterday. Today, I loosened the power steering accessory belt (which is basically brand new) a little, until I could deflect it about 1/4 of an inch. Neither of them were the culprit, so I assumed it was my tie-rod. Place a large prybar (think 3 ft crowbar) under the tire and rapidly pry the tire up.

My 02 Gt has been making this really loud creaking noise when turning the wheel at low speeds and I finally have time to get around to it. I checked all the standard places for a squeak such as the steering stabilizer and trackbar joints by removing them one at a time turning the wheel. You may also get clunks, pops or creaks when turning at low speeds. It's very easy to diagnose whether it is CA, CAB, or tie rod. Looks like the only way to remedy the problem. From reading the other Dodge forums on (steering wheel creaking), there seems to be a TSB on other models that have the same exact issue. It gets annoying since the inside of the cabin is quiet. If you dont feel it, try holding the tie rod and see if it vibrates with the creak. It gets hard and lets air in, which causes foam in the p/s fluid reservoir.
If its the ball joint, you will feel the vibration of the creak in the control arm. The squeak shows up after a day in the rain, and lasts about a week after the last time driving in wet conditions. It's a mild creak, but it happens 100 of the time when the wheel is being turned (in either direction).
